THE wheels are starting to turn for the Airlie Beach Trash Bags, with the Whitsundays second ever roller derby team holding their first training session on skates on Tuesday night.
About 15 members of the Trash Bags were present at the PCYC on Tuesday, with many of the girls trying on skates for the first time.
Airlie's very own roller derby team have been busy training over the last few weeks and were also present at a special roller derby sign-on night at the PCYC last Friday where the Bowen Derby Dolls (pictured) put on a demonstration.
"It was great to see so many turn up for our first training on skates on Tuesday night, a lot of them hadn't skated before so there was a few stacks but everyone did really well and we will improve," Trash Bags team member Tessa Fagan said.
"We have around 25 members all up and our goal is to get our basic skill levels up so we can start booting with other teams."
