Roll Up Roll Up! published 11:28am 15 January 2010 Get Your Skates On is coming to Bundamba this weekend, so it’s time to tie up those laces and fasten those buckles for a fun fuelled time at Skateaway. |
Being held over two days (17th and 24th January), Get Your Skates On will not only be promoting health and sport, the event will also host an array of fun games, inline hockey lessons, demonstrations and giveaways.
Event organiser, Cherie Sorensen says the day is great for people to come in and see how much fun skating is and what exactly is involved.
“They day is set up for people of all ages to come down and have a go, inline hockey in particular offers a new kind of indoor fun and is a great way to make new friends and meet people,” she said.
A survey on ‘Children’s participation in cultural and leisure activities’ conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics in April last year, found that forty-nine (49) per cent of children aged 5–14 years (1.3 million in total) had spent on average six hours over a two-week period riding skateboards, rollerblading or riding scooters. (ABS2009)
So remember to make it down to Skateaway, 21 Agnes Street Bundamba this Sunday at 11:30 am for the first exciting instalment of the two day event.
