SbA Dew Series Sydney Wrap up published 11:30am 15 January 2010 Event #2 of the SbA Dew Series presented by Arnette visited Sydney, NSW over the weekend in stifling heat for the first event of 2010. The event marked the fourth time SbA has hosted the qualify leg of the national series in the Hornsby shire and we were again greeted with road melting heat. The summer sun was relentless all day proving tough going for the younger skaters trying to lock in their lines before the day even started. |

15 Years & U - 6th Place – Andrew Sawyer
Adam Taylor was a special guest on the day, as he cast his eye over the competitors as head judge. The Californian resident was more than happy to take time out and witness the next generation of skate stars. Adam recently finished the 2009 in 6th place for vert in the US Dew Tour. The skaters from as far as the Central Coast to Wollongong who trekked to the north west of Sydney were also joined by local bands Kristen Adams Band & Five Minutes Notice in blistering sun.

The 15 Years & Under Boys was the first division to drop in and as usual the youngest skaters at the park were frothing to get a golden ticket to march’s national final. Making up the largest number of skaters in a division the 15 years & under is always the closest to call and divide the winners.
However it was left to three of the best chasing top spot on the podium, eventually it was Ryan Bowen who claimed the win with no doubt one of the craziest tricks seen so far this summer, a back flip on the fly out. Other standout tricks were Jamie Foxton’s tre flip over the euro and Matt Cornwell’s assault on the bowl.

1st Place – Ryan Bowen
2nd Place – Jamie Foxton
3rd Place – Matt Cornwell
The 18 Years & Under Girls saw Bec Andrews and Poppy Olsen showed the crowd that the girls can go as big as some of the guys during their two women final. Bec secured the win with a clean kick flip off the edge of the bowl to flat, not to be out done poppy was popping over the euro gap and even landing some clean early melon grabs in the bowl.

2nd Place – Poppy Olsen
The 18 Years & Under Boys was run in the peak the heat and a jam session was the fastest was to ensure the skating was locked, loaded and finished before the two long. In the end it was Anthony Bull’s consistency, style and overall lines that won him top honors, Alex Trot landed a huge kicky board up the rail monster rail.

1st Place – Anthony Bull
2nd Place – Dave Q Mark
3rd Place – Alex Trot
That left the final division of the day to four of the best 18 Years & Under Sponsored skaters in the country, three of them lucky to be standing five foot tall. Ryder was looking to defend his state title and the 12 year old from Cronulla was on fire early as he managed to land everything under the sun in the warm up sessions. However it was his eagerness that may have been his undoing with the youngster having and up and under on the platform during the final jam.
In the end Ryder wasn’t to be Ryder’s day, first place and bragging rights went to Julias May. Julias was able to match and in the end better anything that his competitors thru at him. Julias landed two huge tricks on the monster rail, those being a feeble & front board.
