Finance, Audit & Risk Committee Members

The Opportunity
Skate Australia is undertaking significant organisational transformation in 2022 and is seeking nominations for the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
With the support of Sport Australia we are undertaking Australia-wide community engagement to help develop a new five year Strategic Plan. With a clear focus on change and modernisation, Committee members will assist the Board in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities related to:
-
finance, including management accounts, financial statements, budget and Annual Report
-
risk management framework
-
insurance activities
-
engagement and performance of the external auditor
-
compliance with legal, regulatory requirements and compliance policies
Motivated Committee members have the opportunity to make substantial improvements to Skate Australia's financial and risk management structures over the course of their two or three year term.
The Committee comprises five members, of which two are Directors of Skate Australia and three are Independent Members. One Independent Member is appointed as the Independent Chair.
About You
The Board is responsible for ensuring that the Committee has a diverse range of skills, knowledge and experience to enable it to fulfill its responsibilities.
Applicants are expected to have:

Tertiary qualifications in finance, business, accounting or risk.

Employment experience in finance, accounting, risk or compliance.

Financial management literacy.

The FAR Committee Terms of Reference and Member Position Description outlines the role and responsibilities of the Committee and successful applicants will complete the online Sport Australia Director Education Course prior to their first meeting.
Roller Derby National Committee Members

The Opportunity
Skate Australia is undertaking significant organisational transformation in 2022 and is seeking nominations for the Roller Derby National Committee.
Over the next four months, with the support of Sport Australia we are undertaking Australia-wide community engagement to help develop a new five year Strategic Plan. With a clear focus on change and modernisation and the support of new Directors and the CEO, motivated Committee members will have influence and impact over every aspect of roller derby, including:

long term strategic objectives for roller derby
-
participation growth plans
-
education and accreditation programs for athletes, coaches and officials
-
club/league development and support
-
design, planning and advocacy of facility development
-
competitions and events
-
national team operations
Rather than individual member roles, the Committee has collective responsibilities and will achieve its objectives via flexible action plans, supported by staff and other resources as these are galvanised.
About You
We believe in the value that diversity brings to all organisations. We're looking for a diverse range of people with skills, knowledge and experience that may include:

not for profit governance, strategy and/or stakeholder engagement

coaching, officiating and/or education

junior roller derby and working with children
-
sport development and management
-
small business development, organisation development and/or customer experience development

knowledge of the International Rules of Roller Derby and World Skate
-
knowledge of the WFTDA Rules of Roller Derby and the Women's Flat Track Roller Derby Association
as well as diversity in terms of roller derby and sport experience, gender, age, background, disability and geographic location. Committee members are unpaid.
