Non Executive Directors
Skate Australia is undertaking significant organisational transformation in 2022 and are seeking three active Non Executive Directors to join a seven member Board and CEO.
Following a skateboarding gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics and a sizable increase in recreational roller skating during the pandemic, Skate Australia is poised for significant, sustainable growth.
Over the next six months we are undertaking Australia-wide community engagement to help develop a new five year Strategic Plan. With a clear focus on change and modernisation, we have a range of interesting sport operations, community development and commercial opportunities over which motivated Directors will have influence and impact.
All Directors are expected to take an active part in a Board sub-committee which matches their skills and interests.
Appointed Directors (2 roles)
In addition to having a sound knowledge and experience of corporate governance you will have well developed technical and specialist skills in one of: government relations and advocacy, commercial partnerships and/or sponsorships, applied technology, consumer insights and behaviour, or digital and social marketing.
We are seeking experienced Directors with a growth mindset and the inherent ability to look at things differently.
Knowledge of the sport and recreation industry is ideal but not essential however a strong interest in sport and it’s social value is a must.
Elected Director (Casual vacancy with high performance sport focus - 1 role)
In addition to having an understanding of corporate governance you will have well developed technical and specialist skills in high performance sport.
Additional technical and specialist skills will also be highly regarded, from within: government relations and advocacy, commercial partnerships and/or sponsorships, applied technology, consumer insights and behaviour, or digital and social marketing.
We are seeking an experienced high performance sport professional with a growth mindset and the inherent ability to look at things differently. The individual will be an integral member of the Skateboarding High Performance Committee.
Knowledge of high performance sport is essential, with high performance experience in skateboarding highly desirable.
Skate Australia has recently migrated company structure to become a Company Limited by Guarantee.
The Board comprises of up to 7 Directors, with 5 Directors elected by the Members via the Annual General Meeting and 2 Directors appointed directly by the Board. This current recruitment is for the 2 appointed Director roles, and the filling of one casual vacancy within the elected Director roles.
Directors serve up to a three-year term, with 12 years of maximum service on the Board allowed under our Constitution.
The Chair of the Board is appointed annually by the Directors, following the AGM. Prior to the change in company structure, the Chair was directly elected by the Members at the AGM.
