This report presents recommended actions for change to accompany the proposed Skate Australia (SA) policy framework for 2023 and for improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in skate sports based on contemporary and community-informed research and broader Australian policy directions.

 

The project was conducted in 2022 - 2023 by researchers from Griffith University’s Sport and Gender Equity Hub (SAGE) and the Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research (GCSCR) and funded by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Women in Leadership in Sport Programme.

 

The following consists of an overview of the research approach and findings from the project, and then recommended action areas that accompany the draft policy for Skate Australia. The report aims to present research that can inform change to address inequities and make skate sports accessible, safe, welcoming, respectful, and inclusive for people from diverse backgrounds.
