The 2023 Australian Inline Hockey National Championship was wrapped up last Saturday at Skate Paradise, Hillcrest, Queensland, following eight days of competition.
45 Inline Hockey teams from around the country came together to compete at the Championships, with over 480 players across 12 different divisions battling it out to be named national champions.
Queensland clubs dominated the tournament, achieving an incredible 54 points (9 gold and 3 silver) to be awarded this year’s overall state champions. New South Wales finished in second place with 23 points (1 gold and 5 silver). Victoria was in third place also on 23 points (2 gold and 3 silver). Rounding out the placings was Tasmania in fourth on 8 points (1 silver, 5 bronze).
Duane Voss, Inline Hockey Australia National Executive Committee Chair, said the event was a great success.
“Teams from all states enjoyed the 2023 Australian Inline Hockey National Championship tremendously, the new venue was well received as was the setup and scheduling of the tournament,” he said.
“The atmosphere for the duration of the event was great, supporters and participants really enjoyed the tournament, with lots of cheering from all parts of the venue!
“A tournament of this calibre certainly helps with player development. The elite players and coaches are focused on by the other participants, they will observe and talk to them to gain knowledge on how to compete better and at a higher level.”
