Skate Australia Appoints Alex Anasson as New Chief Executive Officer

Skate Australia is proud to announce the appointment of Alex Anasson as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 26th May 2025.

With an impressive background in sports administration and a passion for grassroots engagement, Alex brings a wealth of experience to the role and a clear vision for the future of Skate Australia.

Alex steps into the position following a career in senior leadership roles across two of the nation’s prominent national sporting organisations, most recently, AusTriathlon as General Manager – Sport Services and AusCycling. Her track record includes the successful delivery of national participation strategies and the design of school-based programs aimed at fostering youth involvement in sport.

"Alex’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Skate Australia,” said Dr Phil Hamdorf, Chair of Skate Australia. “Her deep expertise in membership services, product innovation, and club engagement will be instrumental in strengthening our connection with the skate community nationwide.”

In her previous roles, Alex led the development of innovative membership products, spearheaded club engagement strategies, and oversaw national coach education programs to enhance the quality and consistency of coaching across Australia.

Additionally, she played a key role in the design and implementation of a comprehensive national insurance program, ensuring greater protection and confidence for members and affiliates.

“I’m thrilled to join Skate Australia at such a pivotal time,” said Anasson. “Australia enjoyed such tremendous success in skateboarding at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and on the runway towards Brisbane 2032, there is a tremendous opportunity to build on that success and leverage a home Olympic Games.

“What really excites me is the opportunity to work with the broader skate community across all disciplines and engage with local communities. Skating offers something for everyone—from grassroots fun to elite competition—and I’m looking forward to working closely with our community, coaches and stakeholders to grow participation, support our people, and build a strong future for the sport.”

Skate Australia looks forward to Alex’s leadership in continuing to elevate the sport on a national stage and championing the growth of skating opportunities for all Australians.

The recruitment for the Skate Australia General Manager High Performance Skateboarding, is continuing, with announcement to be made in the coming weeks.
