Australian artistic skaters showcased their skill, creativity and determination on the international stage at the 2026 World Skate Games in Asunción, Paraguay, delivering a series of performances across individual, dance and synchronised skating events.

From junior competition through to senior international events, the Australian team embraced the opportunity to represent their country and test themselves against the world’s best.

Emma Vontheoff leads Australia’s artistic campaign

Emma Vontheroff was the first Australian artistic skater to take to the floor, competing in the Junior Ladies Freeskating Short and Long Programs.

Displaying elegance throughout her performances, Emma achieved one of her key goals heading into the Championships: to proudly represent Australia.

Her performance set the tone for the Australian team, with athletes across the different disciplines embracing the challenge of competing on the world stage.

Solo skaters embrace the challenge

Australia was also represented in the senior solo Style and Freedance events, with Kara O'Gorman competing in the women’s division and Oscar White in the men’s, while Kya Michal-Bax represented Australia in the junior competition.

Kara scored 101.37 points to finish 24th, while Oscar placed 20th in the men’s event and Kya finished 24th in the junior division.

Each athlete demonstrated determination and courage throughout their campaigns, gaining valuable experience against strong international fields.

Dance partnership builds on international experience

Oscar and Harper Connors represented Australia in Dance Couples, bringing valuable experience into the competition after recently competing at the World Cup Figures event in Chicago, USA.

In their second year skating together, the pair continued to develop the trust, timing and cohesion required to perform as a successful dance partnership.

Their connection was evident on the floor as they embraced the opportunity to compete together on the world stage and further build their experience as a team.

Quartet delivers a powerful finale

Australia’s artistic skating campaign concluded with an impressive performance from the senior quartet Pra Angeli, featuring Georgia, Kalani Mackenzie, Kya and Sophia Garufo.

The quartet showcased synchronisation, creativity and precision in a performance that captured the audience’s attention.

A standout moment came with the seamless costume colour changes midway through the routine, executed while the skaters maintained their focus and continued to deliver a technically demanding performance.

The routine provided a fitting conclusion to Australia’s artistic competition, with the quartet combining technical skill and creative expression to deliver a powerful and moving performance.

A team effort behind the performances

Supporting the Australian skaters throughout the Championships was Team Manager Nigel, who provided a constant presence for the team across the competition.

The athletes were also supported by coaches Tammy Bryant, Christine Turner, Darren Ransom, Teresa Chittick and Jodie Johnson-Garufo, who worked alongside their skaters throughout the campaign.

From individual performances to the teamwork required in dance and synchronised skating, Australia’s artistic team demonstrated the commitment, creativity and determination needed to compete at the highest international level.

Thanks to Bernadine Geary for taking amazing photos of athletes competing across the competition.
