Australia has claimed its first medal of the 2026 World Skate Games, with Hudson Walker securing bronze in the men’s Vert Skateboarding World Championship in Asunción, Paraguay.

Walker finished third behind American JD Sanchez, who took gold, and Brazil’s Gui Khury, who claimed silver.

The Australian was in medal contention throughout the final, sitting third behind Sanchez and Khury when the competition was brought to an early close due to an approaching storm.

Walker ultimately finished 20 points behind Khury in second, while holding a 22-point advantage over Spain’s Egoitz Bijueska in fourth.

The result marks a strong start to Australia’s World Skate Games campaign and the first medal for the Australian team at the event.

Walker was one of seven Australians selected to compete in Vert, alongside Coco Rackley, Summer Rackley, Mia Kretzer, Jada Ward, Louie Daiguchi and Taj Wolfenden.

The World Skate Games continue in Asunción, with Australia represented across Skateboarding’s Park, Street and Vert disciplines.
