Skate Australia announces CEO recruitment

Skate Australia is seeking a strategic leader with innovative flare and the energy to drive the sport’s vision and strategy in the coming years, while supporting the sport’s broader membership base on its path to unified success.


The recruitment of a new CEO is the first step in the whole of Skate Australia strategic plan, with the position to be followed in the coming weeks by the recruitment of a newly created role of General Manager High Performance that will act as the strategic lead for the Skateboarding high-performance program leading into LA28.


The CEO role will work closely with the Skate Australia Board and Skate Australia’s wider membership encompassing six Skate Technical Committees, and the new emerging discipline of scootering, to drive engagement and greater connection across the Skate community while also ensuring strong business operations that enhance the Skateboarding HP program. 


The CEO will work to ensure the sport achieves its vision and strategy, this includes overseeing all operational aspects, driving performance objectives, engaging a diverse range of stakeholders and inspiring a community that strives for positive outcomes both in and out of competition. 


Working closely with the Board; the chosen candidate’s key accountabilities will include.


  • Partnering with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to progress Skates position throughout Australia.

  • Delivery of all operational activities on behalf of the Board and ensure active oversight of all business activities such as, Finance, HR, Marketing and Program Delivery.

  • Driving engagement with Skate Australia members to support transparent and efficient clarity of roles and responsibilities.

  • Deliver, monitor, and report against the SA business plans, projects and targets.

  • Ensure governance, compliance, risk management and organisation-wide planning are fit for purpose and best practice.

  • Enabling and embedding sustainable success aligned to the 2032+ Win Well sport strategy.


Following the recruitment of these two key positions, in line with recommendations of the 2024 Independent High Performance System Review (refer recommendation 2.2), Skate Australia will also look to recruit an additional performance expert to operate in a dual leadership model with the General Manager High Performance, this role will require strong skateboarding performance and industry expertise to enhance and support those on the pathway to LA28 and Brisbane 2032.
