The 2023 Artistic Skating National Championships have arrived in Bunbury, Western Australia, with the Championships getting underway on Saturday 1 July, and running through to Friday 7 July.
Australia’s best Artistic skaters will gather at the South West Sports Centre in Bunbury, with age groups from Tots all the way through to Advanced Masters competing for national glory.
Queensland is bringing the largest team over to WA, however six athletes from New Zealand are traveling the furthest to compete at Australia's premier Artistic Skating event.
“On behalf of Skate Australia staff, board, and the Artistic National Technical Committee, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all skaters, officials, volunteers, and supporters to the 2023 Skate Australia Artistic Roller-Sports Championships in Bunbury, Western Australia,” said Skate Australia CEO Dr Caitlin Honey.
“We thank the Bunbury local council and community for welcoming us to their rink, and I am looking forward to seeing athletes across all age groups and divisions achieve their goals.
“To the coaches, officials and volunteers, we express our sincere gratitude – without you, this sport would not run. Your expertise and skill foster the growth and development of our athletes and we thank you for your contribution to this sport.
“On behalf of everyone at Skate Australia, we wish everyone an enjoyable and successful championships,” Dr Honey concluded.
Not only will skaters be competing for Australian titles, but athletes from this event can be selected to represent Australia at the upcoming Oceania Championships and Pacific Cup in Queensland in August, and the 2023 Artistic Skating World Championships to be held in Ibague, Columbia in September.
Competition gets underway with the Men’s and Women’s Preliminary Solo Dance on Saturday morning, but all skaters will come together for the Opening Ceremony from 5.30pm on Sunday evening.
