This year has seen strong growth, deeper engagement and steady progress across Roller Derby Australia as we continue supporting the derby community nationwide. A major milestone was the inclusion of World Skate Roller Derby in the Asian Championships for the first time, boosting international visibility and recognition. We also celebrated a stellar WFTDA World Cup performance by Team Australia, and for the first time, a WFTDA reserve team travelled to New Zealand to compete and strengthen development pathways. MRDA Team Australia also completed national try-outs and finalised their team ahead of the 2026 MRDA World Cup. Across all these international events, Australia was proudly represented by multiple officials, highlighting the depth and professionalism of our officiating community.
Our Coaching Accreditation program remained a priority, with 66 coaches registering this year. This demonstrates the community’s commitment to safety, skill development and coaching quality.
We expanded the RDA committee, with existing members Myra O'Mara (Beets) QLD, Corinne Christie (Exy) VIC and Teegan Green (Miss Tee) SA and are excited to welcome Jess McCall (PureNRG) NSW and Shan Stanton (Jambi) QLD, strengthening national representation.
As a newly expanded committee, our first priority is developing a strategic plan to ensure clear direction and alignment. Together, we remain focused on supporting roller derby in Australia, across all rulesets and collaborating with skaters, officials, coaches and leagues.
We are proud of this year’s progress and look forward to continuing our partnership with Skate Australia to grow the sport we love.
