Skate Australia has launched Skate Your Story: A Unified Strategy for Australian Skating (2026–2032) — a national roadmap to grow skating participation, strengthen the system and inspire the next generation of skaters.
The strategy follows an important period of leadership and organisational reset during 2025, where Skate Australia worked alongside State bodies, discipline leaders, athletes, coaches, officials and key sport system partners to reflect on the future of the sport and identify the structural changes required to unlock growth.
The outcome is a unified national strategy grounded in the principle “One Skate, Many Stories” — recognising the diversity of skate sports while bringing the system together under a shared direction.
The vision is ambitious: By 2032, the spirit of “One Skate, Many Stories” powers a national skate movement of 250,000 Australians — from playground to podium.
Skate Australia CEO Alex Anasson said the strategy represents a pivotal moment for the organisation.
“This strategy reflects the collective voice of the skate community. After a period of reflection and reset across the organisation and the broader system, we now have a clear direction for how skating can grow in Australia — with stronger foundations, more inclusive pathways and a shared national identity.”
The strategy will be delivered across three horizons:
2026–2028 | Unite & Reset
2029–2031 | Scale & Strengthen
2032+ | Thrive & Inspire
Across three strategic pillars — Break the Mould, Build the Backbone, and One Skate, Many Stories — the plan focuses on inclusive entry pathways, strong governance and integrity, better digital connection and storytelling, and unified advocacy for places and opportunities to skate.
