Skate Australia welcomes Pat Gemzik as Skateboarding State Performance Pathways Coach

Skate Australia is delighted to announce the appointment of Pat Gemzik to the newly established role of Skateboarding State Performance Pathways Coach.

Gemzik joins Skate Australia with a wealth of experience in skateboarding as a former athlete, coach and team manager.

Based in South East Queensland, Gemzik will work closely with the existing High Performance Pathways staff and in partnership with Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS).

Gemzik’s primary focus will be on nurturing and advancing the development of Queensland based athletes in Skate Australia’s innovative pathways program, SBP.

SBP, Australia’s first-ever national talent development program, aims to develop and support our next generation of skaters to become high-performance athletes. Gemzik will also contribute to the coordination of the highly anticipated 2024 QAS Youfor2032 Daredevils program commencing in early April.

Luke MacDonald, Skate Australia Performance Pathways Manager said Gemzik's appointment was an important development for the organisation.

"We are thrilled to welcome Pat as a staff member in our Performance Pathways team,” said MacDonald.

“His passion for skateboarding and proven track record in athlete development align perfectly with our program objectives."

Sharing his excitement for the opportunity, Gemzik said he looks forward to his role in assisting the next generation of athletes.

“I am honoured to take this role on and I’m stoked to be part of such a great team at Skate Australia and to work in partnership with the QAS,” said Gemzik.

“Queensland skateboarding is ready for this and the new generation is impressive, keen and committed.

“I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to help develop these skaters into elite athletes. I need two pairs of sunnies as the future of QLD skateboarding is so bright!”

Gemzik’s appointment represents a significant step forward for Skate Australia and for skateboarding in Queensland, as the sport builds participation and high performance programs.
