Australian inline skating veteran Sam Fogarty remains a formidable presence on the international stage, three decades after his international debut.
At the most recent World Cup in Ostia, Rome, the inline skate final became a battle of eldest versus youngest.
Under the intense heat of Ostia, Rome, Fogarty, an athlete considered an inline legend, fought through the competition to earn his place in the final.
In a final characterised by a generational gap, the veteran faced off against competitors such as Japanese skater Haruhi Shimizu, who is thirty years younger than the Australian legend.
Fogarty finished an impressive 9th place in the final, leaving him in good stead for his next major competition, the World Skate Games in Paraguay from October 2-18.
Alongside, Fogarty fellow veteran Shane Yost will represent Australia, along with junior athletes Theresa Wang and Hal Durham.
Beyond the bowl, Fogarty continues to be instrumental in developing the future of the sport in Australia.
In tandem with his competitive career, Fogarty plays a vital role behind the scenes.
From organising qualifying events for Australia's junior athletes, to assisting young inline skaters establish routes to the world stage.
The prospects for Australian inline skating are incredibly bright, thanks to the trailblazing efforts of Fogarty.
Skate Australia extends its congratulations to Sam Fogarty for yet another remarkable display, and sends its best wishes to the entire Australian team as they prepare for the upcoming World Skate Games.
