Australia set for World Skate Games

Two-time Olympic champion Keegan Palmer will headline a team of 80 Australian athletes heading to Paraguay for the 2026 World Skate Games, but the green and gold representation will extend far beyond skateboarding.

Australia will be represented across a diverse range of roller sports when the world's biggest celebration of skate sports takes place in Asunción from October 2–18.

Palmer leads a strong 25-athlete Australian skateboarding team across Park, Street, Vert, Dowhill, Slalom and Luge alongside fellow Olympians and international stars including Chloe Covell, Ruby Trew, Keefer Wilson and Kieran Woolley.

But skateboarding is just one part of Australia's World Skate Games campaign.

Australian athletes will also compete in Speed Skating, Artistic Skating, Rink Hockey, Roller Freestyle, Inline Freestyle, Skate Cross, Inline Downhill and Scootering, showcasing the breadth of sports represented by Skate Australia.

The Speed Skating team features six athletes – Asha Hickford, Lahna Meadows, Tom Burgdorf, Harry Geary, Dyllon Knight and Camilo Montoya Giraldo – across sprint and endurance event, while Australia's Men's Senior Rink Hockey team will take on the world's best, with a 10-player squad combining international experience with emerging talent.

Australia will also have a strong presence in Roller Freestyle, with athletes competing across Street, Park and Vert, led by experienced international competitor Sam Fogarty.

Together, the athletes represent one of Australia's most diverse World Skate Games teams, bringing together Olympic champions, established international competitors and a new generation of athletes chasing their first taste of senior world championship competition.

The 2026 World Skate Games will bring together more than 100 nations in Paraguay, with 12 sports, one e-sport and 23 World Championships contested across the 17-day event. More than 10,000 athletes are expected to be involved.

For Australia, the Games will provide another opportunity to showcase the depth of talent across the country's skate sports – from Olympic skateboarding champions to athletes competing in sports that may be less familiar to the wider Australian sporting audience.
