Mackay City Rollers have taken out the Northern Rivers Revolt, capping off a dominant showing from the North Queensland club.

The team celebrated in style after securing the trophy, continuing a strong run of form on the roller derby track with their signature 'crushing the pineapple' pose.

Off the track, representatives from Skate Australia attended the Roller Derby World Skate Games Team Try Outs in Mount Warren, where athletes showcased their skill, determination and competitiveness in a bid to earn national selection.

With guidance from coaches and team management, the sessions highlighted the depth of emerging talent across the country.

The day concluded with a high-energy fundraising game featuring some of Australia’s top MRDA and WFTDA skaters, building momentum ahead of the upcoming MRDA World Cup in Orléans, France. The match delivered a thrilling display of strategy, physicality and intensity for spectators.

Skate Australia supports all Roller Derby Clubs and athletes across the diverse rule sets of Roller Derby around Australia. We understand WFTDA Rules are very common across the sport, and we would like to continue supporting those clubs and teams for domestic and international events. When selecting national teams for World Skate events, we are governed by World Skate rules which stipulates the World Skate rules are to be enforced at those specific events.
