The Skateboarding Pre-Categorisation Program (SBP) is officially launching for 2026.
The program will support a total of 12 athletes:
Six Park athletes (mixed genders)
Six Street athletes (mixed genders)
SBP is designed as a supported stepping stone toward potential future categorisation. We recognise that athletes develop at different stages, and this program aims to meet athletes where they are — providing guidance, education, and opportunity while allowing development to occur at an appropriate pace.
The focus of the program is on enjoyment, connection, and sustainable progression, while introducing athletes to key elements of high-performance environments in a positive and age-appropriate way.
Athletes will engage in multiple touchpoints throughout the year, including competitions, education sessions, and one all-in camp, where they will have the opportunity to learn and experience key high-performance behaviours within a supportive setting.
Applications are now open via the form below and will close on 11th March.

The Skateboarding Pre-Categorisation Program (SBP) is a great initiative that helps create structure and opportunity for athletes who want to grow within the sport. Programs like this allow talented skateboarders to gain recognition, improve their skills, and prepare for higher level competitions. Clear pathways and organized development systems are essential for any sport that wants to expand globally. Interestingly, when discussing sports development and youth activities online, topics sometimes vary widely, even including travel discussions such as best ebike rentals for Glacier National Park visitors, which shows how diverse community forums can be. Overall, SBP seems like a positive step toward supporting emerging skateboarding talent.
